These days former IPS officer Kiran Bedi seems to be hogging the limelight for all the wrong reasons. This time Bedi has been accused of poll violation by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). She was seen bribing voters by giving necklaces to women while campaigning at Patparganj in Delhi.
AAP has accused that it is nothing but an act of bribing voters ahead of the elections, since only eight days are left to the big showdown. Manish Sisodia, one of the senior AAP leaders, said that Kiran is directly influencing voters and violating the code of conduct just eight days before the election. This has served as a nice opportunity for AAP to take a dig at Bedi, as AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal – her former colleague – has been facing allegations repeatedly for urging voters to accept bribes. He urged people in a public meeting to take a bribe from any party but vote only for AAP. Following this, he was warned by the Election Commission of India.
Kejriwal said, “I didn’t tell the voters to take the bribe and vote for those parties. It’s a very serious issue; money for votes and my telling people had reduced the problem to some extent in the last elections.”
The Delhi Legislative Assembly election 2015 will be held on February 7. The results will be declared on February 10.
