Liverpool face Aston Villa in the second semi-final of the FA Cup, with the cauldron of Wembley playing hosts after fans got to witness a pulsating match between Arsenal and Reading. Despite going down to Arsenal due to a goalkeeping howler, Reading won hearts of the football world after pushing Arsene Wenger’s team to the brink of an exit. Livepool will have a lot riding on this contest with a top four spot still awaiting confirmation. The Live Streaming of the match will be telecast on StarSports.com. Tim Sherwood’s Aston Villa though, are coming into the match after pulling off a stunning win against the manager’s old club, Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane. Some of the old Aston Villa traditions of cohesive defending while displaying spirit all around the pitch, ready to fight till the final whistle.
A lot of talk has come out of Anfield in recent weeks on giving outgoing captain and club legend, Steven Gerrard a fitting send-off. Here, coach Brendan Rogers has decided to start with the 35-year-old midfielder. The mercurial Phillipe Coutinho will have to pull the strings in the final third.
Raheem Sterling has been in supreme form in recent weeks and showed his prowess yet again in Liverpool’s previous league fixture — against Newcastle United — with a sublime goal. Christian Benteke will be the danger man up front though and is expected to be a handful for Dejan Lovren and Martin Skrtel. While they start as favourites, Liverpool’s task will be far from easy, as we witnessed yesterday.
