And once your screenplay is complete, then the next step in the filmmaking process is your initial breakdown and schedule.

Easy to sew 3 Tiered Skirt Sewing Tutorial with Draft

Measurements: (For 7yrs Girl)

Waist: 60cms

Skirt length: 40cms or desired length of skirt

Materials suggested:

Light weight fabrics

Materials required:

1¾ meters to 2 meters of fabric and 1” Elastic 55cms

Cut the three tiers with the help of above picture. Notch or mark the top and bottom of each piece at the center to help you when you gather each tier.

Sewing Instructions:

Step 1: Sew each of the side seams together using a 1cm seam allowance. After sewing press seams.

Now we are going to work with three tiers that are each a different size circle.

Step 2: Gather the 2nd tier with the longest stitch. Stitch within the 1cm seam allowance around the top of the 2nd tier. Do not backstitch with your machine and keep the threads long at the starting and ending point. Carefully hold the one end and pull another end of thread. Gather both the front and back lightly.

Step 3: Repeat the last step to make gathers in 3rd tier.

Step 4: Pin the center of the 2nd tier front to the center of the 1st tier front by facing right sides together with using the notch. Stitch the two tiers together, using a 1cm seam allowance. Match the side seams together. (If u need gently adjust your gathers until the two tiers will sew together). Repeat this step to attach 3rd tier to the 2nd tier.
Turn skirt right side out and press. Topstitch the seam allowance to the upper tier.
On hemline fold 1cm inside & press again fold 1cm (double folding) inside and press. Then sew along the hemline.

Step 5: To put in the elastic waist, fold down the top of the first tier 1cm & press, then again fold down 4cms towards the inside of the skirt & Press. Now Sew along the red line mentioned in the above picture (leave 3cms as unstitched to insert the elastic).

Step 6: Take 55cms 1” elastic. Insert the one end of elastic to the waist line with the help of 3cms gape. Join the elastic sides together by stitching. Finish the unstitched gape.

Now the Tiered Skirt is ready to wear.

Note: you can use 3 different colors, plain or printed with combinations.

Try this easy to sew Dress…No Zippers and No Buttons…It is Reversible…Two looks in one!

Here I attached images for better understanding… enjoy sewing with these simple steps…

Length – 45cms

Chest   – 51cms

Shoulder – 24cms

Materials suggested:

Light weight fabrics

Materials required:

Two colour fabrics. ¼ meter each and another color fabric for Bias strip.

Construction:

(0-1)      = 45cms

(0-2)     = Armhole depth ( ¼ chest) = 12.75

(2-3)      = ¼ chest +2.5cms = 15.25cms

(1-4)     = ½ chest – 3cms = 22.5cms

(4-4’)    = 1.5cms for shaping. Join (1-4’) hemline. Join (3-4’) side seam.

(0-5) & (2-6) = ½ shoulder

(0-7)    = Neck width = 1/12 chest +1.5cms = 6cms

(7-7’) & (5-5’) = 1.5cms

(7’-A) & (5’-A) = 12cms

X is the mid point of (5-6). (X-X’) = 0.5cm inside.

Shape 5’-X -3 for back armhole curve.  Shape 5’-X’-3 for Front armhole curve.

(0-8) = Back neck depth = 2.5cms. Shape (8-7’) for back neck curve.

(0-9) = Front neck depth = 1/12 chest + 2.5cms =6.75cms. Shape (9-7’) for Front neck curve.

For Bias strip: (p-q) = (r-s) = 45cms & (p-r) = (q-s) = 10cms

Cutting line:

Back: 8-7’-A-5’-X-3-4’-1     (8-1) on fold

Front: 9-7’-A-5’-X’-3-4’-1     (9-1) on fold

Seam allowance should be 1 cm for all sides.

Bias Strip making Instruction:

Press with iron after each fold.

Sewing Instructions: (Frock) 

Cut Front part of Frock (2 pieces)

Cut Back part of Frock (2 pieces)

Place Back parts by facing right sides together and sew along the blue line as mentioned in this picture. Leave 1cm (side seam) each side. After sewing turn right side out & Iron.

Place Front parts by facing right sides together and sew along the blue line as mentioned in this picture. Leave 1cm (side seam) each side. After sewing turn right side out & Iron

Place Back & Front parts by facing the same color together. Then fold the other color flare portions upward as shown in this picture

After folding, it looks like this. Now the back & front part of each color facing right sides together. Then Stitch along the side seams of each color part separately

Turn right sides out

Now we r going to do the Final step…Finishing hemline with Bias strips (it should be another color plain material or printed) sew along the blue line. I use another color plain material Bias strip here.

Now the Reversible Frock is ready…
